Cristiano_Ronaldo.pictureCristiano Ronaldo is the guy who charges the hopes of winning the Euro 2008 for the Portugal National Football Team. With his awesome speed and powerful kick and with great skill, Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world.

Early in his career he was considered a troublemaker, but recently he’s grown up and is becoming one of the most respected players in the world. In 2007, he was chosen third best player in the world by FIFA and second best by France Football.

CristianoRonaldo.pictureBiography
Cristiano Ronaldo was born in Funchal, Madeira 5 February 1985. Cristiano Ronaldo is the last son of Jose Diniz Aveiro and he has two sisters and one brother. The young kid from Madeira never was a good student in his childhood. In school, Ronaldo (he received this name as a tribute for former US president, Ronald Reagan) didn’t like to study and the only time he really worked hard were during meals when he and his pals used to play football all the time.

Although his career is still at an early stage, Cristiano Ronaldo’s skills on the wing already earned him a lot of fans throughout the World as he is widely considered the most technical player in the World at this point, in competition with FC Barcelona’s.

An so, on 12th August 2003, Cristiano Ronaldo held up the famous Red shirt, with his favourite number 7 (it is hero Figo`s number) for all the press to see.
A new star had been born.

Ronaldo has often had problems with his temper during games, he was sent off in a game against Manchester City and received a one-match ban imposed by UEFA for a “one-fingered gesture” towards Benfica fans in a UEFA Champions League match in December 2005. While playing for Portugal in a friendly against Luxembourg he was given a yellow card for pushing Jeff Strasser in the throat in retaliation after Strasser tackled him. Felipe Scolari warned Ronaldo to keep his temper in check during the World Cup.

Manchester United fans told him they don’t want him back in England and Real Madrid quickly tried to seize the opportunity and sign him. In the meantime, having rejected Real’s offer, Cristiano Ronaldo won back the hearts of his club’s fans with his sheer skills and impressive (and often decisive) goals and also made friends again.

However for all his skill and pace, Ronaldo supposedly did not want the pressure of living up to expectations with this number, and so initially asked for the number 28 which he wore at Sporting. Preferring a free role, he has often been accused of being selfish. A row between him and Ruud van Nistelrooy at the Carrington training ground intensified speculation about their roles at the club. Ferguson has however put his faith with Ronaldo, who signed a new deal with United that will last through 2010. Ronaldo is also quoted in the Manchester Evening News as saying “United have stood by me and been there for me and I want to repay that.”

michael-ballack1.pictureAs a midfield player Michael Ballack’s presence is very important and very meaningful for the German national team. Authority to lead his friends, his abilities and skills are extraordinary near-perfect. Michael Ballack also believed to be the captain of the German national team and he is also a senior player in the country that became a model for other players.

Michael Ballack (born September 26, 1976 in Görlitz, then East Germany) is a German football player. He will play for Chelsea in the English Premier League from the start of the 2006-07 season.

michael ballack.pictureCareer
In 1995, Michael Ballack was given his first professional contract, thanks to his impressive silky skills in the role as midfield maestro. Little surprise, then, that he was dubbed the “Little Kaiser”, in reference to Franz Beckenbauer. His professional debut came on 4 August 1995, on the first day of the new Second Bundesliga season. But Chemnitzer lost the game 2-1, against Leipzig (Chemnitz’s equaliser, incidentally, was scored by Silvio Meissner, today a player with VfB Stuttgart), and that more or less set the tone: at the end of the season, during which Ballack made fifteen appearances, Chemnitz were relegated to the multi-tiered, regional third division. For Ballack himself, however, that season held one great success: on 26 March 1996, he made his debut for Germany’s Under-21 side.

Euro 2000 wasn’t a bright spot for Germany (Ballack only played 63 minutes at this tournament), but the World Cup two years later in Japan and South Korea became a glorious tournament for the country – and primarily for Ballack. Until that time, he wasn’t without his detractors, because he suffered the fate every exceptional player has to live with: as soon as Ballack put in a performance that wasn’t of the highest class, he came under criticism from the press, while a great game was considered normal. But the World Cup became a triumphal procession for Ballack. His three goals against Ukraine won the qualifying playoffs and made sure Germany would go to Asia, where he again proved to be the player who made the difference. Only his goals separated Germany from the USA and South Korea during the knock-out rounds and sent his side to the final. But what the experts lauded even more was his last-gasp effort to stop an opponent from scoring in the semi-final – in so doing he risked a yellow card but still didn’t shy away from the tackle. That proved his leadership qualities. In the end, he was booked indeed and had to sit out the final.

He will play in central midfield for Chelsea in the English Premier League following his departure from Bayern Munich and for Germany, which he has captained since 2004. Ballack was transferred to Bayern Munich from Bayer Leverkusen on 1 July 2002, for an undisclosed amount. Before that, he played for Kaiserslautern.

Ballack agreed to join Chelsea on a Bosman transfer on 15 May 2006. During his last season as a Bayern player there were rumours of interest from Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan, but Ballack instead chose to go to Stamford Bridge on a lucrative three-year-deal.

Thierry_Henry.pictureThierry may not the best striker to ever step on a soccer pitch—most people leave that distinction to either Pele or Maradona—but he’s still in good company. Thierry’s primary strength is lightning-quick speed. Watch him dribble through a defense and slide a ball past a diving goaltender, and it’s not hard to understand why people call him the fastest player to ever touch a soccer ball.

Thierry is simply too fast for opponents with the ball at his feet. Unlike others, he shifts into another gear when he receives a pass. Thierry then combines that speed with an uncanny nose for the goal.

Enemy defenders have openly confessed to having nightmares the night before playing against Thierry, and with good reason. Thierry is a deadly scorer, but he’s also a proven winner. Chances are he will always find a way to beat an opponent.

thierry henry.pictureBiography
Thierry Henry may not be a household name in North America, but everywhere else on the planet he’s known as the most dynamic offensive player in the world’s most popular game. The French soccer star began life in a Paris ghetto, earned national fame as a precocious teen, rocketed to prominence on the sport’s ultimate international stage, then led his pro team to the first undefeated season in more than a century. Thierry is that most deadly of strikers, combining unmatched speed with tremendous vision and
creativity—and he’s still adding dimensions to his game.

Thierry Henry was born on August 17, 1977, in the small suburban Paris town of Les Ulis. His parents, Antoine and Marylese, left the French Antilles one year prior in search of a better life.

Under Wenger’s tutelage, Henry became France’s Young Player of the Year in 1996, leading the country’s Under-18 team to the European Championship. With many of Europe’s biggest clubs interested in Thierry (his apprentice deal with Monaco was about to expire), Thierry hired a side-agent who was not registered with FIFA. When Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid negotiated a lucrative new contract with Thierry, Monaco cried foul, claiming they already had an agreement with a registered agent to retain their up-and-coming star. Thierry found himself on two different teams at the same time.

Unfortunately, Arsenal had a disappointing 2000-2001 season, losing to Valencia in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and finishing a distant second to Manchester United in the Premiership again. They could have salvaged the year by beating Liverpool in the final of the FA Cup, but that was not meant to be either. Michael Owen and Liverpool turned the Gunners away, 2-1. Thierry finished the season with a respectable 22 goals in all, with 17 of them coming in Premiership play.

The success Thierry craved came in the 2001-2002 season. Arsenal finished 26-9-3 to win the Premiership by seven points over Liverpool. Then the team fought off a scrappy Chelsea team to win the FA Cup, posting a 2-0 victory in the final. Thierry spearheaded the offense, though he didn’t cash in on any of his numerous chances. Ray Parlour and Freddie Ljungberg tallied the goals. Still, Thierry ranked first in the Premiership in scoring for the first time in his career, netting 24 goals.

Entering the 2003-2004 Arsenal season, Thierry and his Gunner teammates focused on reclaiming the Premiership title. Arsenal supporters were also beginning to whisper about what was once unthinkable: breaking Ian Wright’s club scoring record. Thierry was in striking distance. In January of 2003, he had notched his 100th goal in just his 180th appearance. Wright’s mark stood at 184 goals in 287 appearances. Many fans rooted for Thierry to surpass him.

Thierry Henry’s great pace, skills and goalscoring has made him a favourite with the Arsenal fans, and in October 2005 with a couple of goals against Sparta Prague, Henry beat Ian Wright’s record to become Arsenal’s all-time top goal-scorer.

On February 1, 2006, he scored a goal against West Ham, bringing his league goal tally up to 151 and thus breaking Cliff Bastin’s Arsenal league goals record. He also contributes a large number of assists – most notably 20 in the 2002/3 season – an all-time Premiership record.
