CristianoRonaldo.pictureBiography
Cristiano Ronaldo was born in Funchal, Madeira 5 February 1985. Cristiano Ronaldo is the last son of Jose Diniz Aveiro and he has two sisters and one brother. The young kid from Madeira never was a good student in his childhood. In school, Ronaldo (he received this name as a tribute for former US president, Ronald Reagan) didn’t like to study and the only time he really worked hard were during meals when he and his pals used to play football all the time.

Although his career is still at an early stage, Cristiano Ronaldo’s skills on the wing already earned him a lot of fans throughout the World as he is widely considered the most technical player in the World at this point, in competition with FC Barcelona’s.

An so, on 12th August 2003, Cristiano Ronaldo held up the famous Red shirt, with his favourite number 7 (it is hero Figo`s number) for all the press to see.
A new star had been born.

Ronaldo has often had problems with his temper during games, he was sent off in a game against Manchester City and received a one-match ban imposed by UEFA for a “one-fingered gesture” towards Benfica fans in a UEFA Champions League match in December 2005. While playing for Portugal in a friendly against Luxembourg he was given a yellow card for pushing Jeff Strasser in the throat in retaliation after Strasser tackled him. Felipe Scolari warned Ronaldo to keep his temper in check during the World Cup.

Manchester United fans told him they don’t want him back in England and Real Madrid quickly tried to seize the opportunity and sign him. In the meantime, having rejected Real’s offer, Cristiano Ronaldo won back the hearts of his club’s fans with his sheer skills and impressive (and often decisive) goals and also made friends again.

However for all his skill and pace, Ronaldo supposedly did not want the pressure of living up to expectations with this number, and so initially asked for the number 28 which he wore at Sporting. Preferring a free role, he has often been accused of being selfish. A row between him and Ruud van Nistelrooy at the Carrington training ground intensified speculation about their roles at the club. Ferguson has however put his faith with Ronaldo, who signed a new deal with United that will last through 2010. Ronaldo is also quoted in the Manchester Evening News as saying “United have stood by me and been there for me and I want to repay that.”
